About us

The DECHEMA (Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology) is a non-profit making scientific and technical society based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. It was founded in 1926 and  has more than 5,500 members, who are scientists, engineers, companies, organisations and institutes. One aim of DECHEMA is to promote and support research and development in Chemical Technology and Biotechnology.
We achieve this among other things by:

• collaboration of experts from science, business and the authorities in various boards and working groups
  
• promotion of research and development among other things in industrial joint research and by scholarships of the Max Buchner Research Foundation
  
• research at the DECHEMA Research-Institute, training and continuing education as well as teaching at universities
  
• advisory services to sponsors concerning the promotion of chemical technologies and biotechnology
  
• organisation of the international exhibition-congresses ACHEMA and ACHEMASIA
  
• exchange of information and experience at  congresses, conferences and colloquia
  
• publication of scientific literature and development of databases and multimedia systems
  
• national and international cooperation with other scientific societies
  
• standardisation of laboratory equipment and apparatus
  
  
• Promotion of young academics and students

Our information and events are open for all interested persons, even if they are not a member of DECHEMA. If you are a scientist or engineer and want to benefit from our interdisciplinary teamwork to its full extend, become a member of DECHEMA!
